Zakat al-Fitr

زكاة الفطر

An obligatory charity at the end of Ramadan, given before the Eid prayer.

Sahih
When
Ramadan, days 28–30

What it holds

Ibn 'Umar reports in al-Bukhari that the Prophet ﷺ made Zakat al-Fitr obligatory on every Muslim, free or slave, male or female, young or old, and ordered it given before people go out to the Eid prayer.

islamweb's fatwa says it becomes due at the end of Ramadan (at sunset on its last day for ash-Shafi'i and Ahmad, at dawn on Eid for Abu Hanifa), and that giving it a day or two early, as the Companions did, is allowed.
