The people of Nuh

قوم نوح

Nuh called them for nine and a half centuries; those who refused were drowned in the flood.

Prophet sent to them: Nuh

Their story

Allah sent Nuh to his people to warn them before a painful punishment came (71:1). He called them night and day, openly and in private, and few believed.

He stayed among them a thousand years less fifty, and the flood took them while they were wrongdoers (29:14). Nuh and those with him in the ark were saved.

إِنَّآ أَرْسَلْنَا نُوحًا إِلَىٰ قَوْمِهِۦٓ أَنْ أَنذِرْ قَوْمَكَ مِن قَبْلِ أَن يَأْتِيَهُمْ عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌ ١

Indeed, We sent Noah to his people, [saying], "Warn your people before there comes to them a painful punishment."

وَلَقَدْ أَرْسَلْنَا نُوحًا إِلَىٰ قَوْمِهِۦ فَلَبِثَ فِيهِمْ أَلْفَ سَنَةٍ إِلَّا خَمْسِينَ عَامًا فَأَخَذَهُمُ ٱلطُّوفَانُ وَهُمْ ظَـٰلِمُونَ ١٤

And We certainly sent Noah to his people, and he remained among them a thousand years minus fifty years, and the flood seized them while they were wrongdoers.

And indeed We sent Nûh (Noah) to his people, and he stayed among them a thousand years less fifty years [inviting them to believe in the Oneness of Allâh (Monotheism), and discard the false gods and other deities]; and the Deluge overtook them while they were Zâlimûn (wrong-doers, polytheists, disbelievers).
