Role and accounts

Jibril is the trustworthy spirit who brought the Quran down to the heart of the Prophet ﷺ (26:193-194). The Quran describes him as a noble messenger, possessed of strength, with standing before the Lord of the Throne, obeyed and trustworthy (81:19-21).

The Prophet ﷺ saw him in his true form with six hundred wings (al-Bukhari 3232), filling the horizon. islamweb's fatwa explains the title "the trustworthy spirit" (ar-Ruh al-Amin): through the revelation he brought, hearts come alive as bodies do through the soul, and he is trusted with Allah's message. Among the tasks the fatwa mentions is overturning the towns of Lut's people.
