About

Whoever is given his record in his right hand will say to others, here, read my record, for I was sure I would meet my reckoning, and he will be in a pleasing life in a lofty Garden (69:19-22).

As-Sa'di explains that the people of bliss are given their records in their right hands to mark them out and honour them; the one who says he was sure of meeting his reckoning means that faith in the resurrection and preparing for it brought him there. On the wretched, he notes that their records are given in the left hand, from behind their backs (84:10).
