If you feel no shame, do as you wish

Modesty is a teaching of every prophet, and losing it opens the way to anything.

The hadith

On the authority of Abu Masood Uqbah bin ’Amr al-Ansaree al-Badree (may Allah be pleased with him) who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, “Verily, from what was learnt by the people from the speech of the earliest prophecy is: If you feel no shame, then do as you wish.” [Al-Bukhari]

Lessons

Modesty (haya) is part of faith. It grows from knowing that Allah sees you and from knowing His greatness, and it keeps a person from wrongdoing. It is not shyness that keeps you from commanding good and forbidding wrong; the Prophet ﷺ was the most modest of people and still spoke the truth.

In practice: be shy before Allah, guard your eyes, ears, tongue and stomach, remember death, and do not let shyness before people stop you from what is right.
